HIGHLIGHTS

  • SpaceX Dragon now scheduled to launch at 4:22 A.M EDT on Tuesday April 30 with the help of Falcon 9 rocket from space launch complex at Cape Canaveral Air force station situated in Florida.
  • This mission will be SpaceX's 17th commercial resupply services contract mission to International Space Station (ISS) for NASA.

SpaceX's Dragon will be getting some extra time & they will try to take advantage of that by performing static fire tests & pre- flight checkouts. This mission is totally ready & could have been launched earlier but April 30 is the perfect date for both the respected sides as taking concern of both station & orbital mechanical constraints.

  • It is a free flying spacecraft which is designed to deliver both cargo & humans to orbiting destinations.
  • Only spacecraft that is capable of returning significant amounts of cargo back to earth.
  • Capable of carrying up to 7 passengers to and from earth orbit & beyond.
  • The pressurized section of capsule of the Dragon is fully capable of carrying passengers & sensitive cargo.
  • Base of capsule consists of Draco thrusters  helping for orbital maneuvering.
  • Diameter - 4 m/ 13 ft.
  • Height - 8.1 m/26.7 ft. 
  • Capsule volume - 9.3 m*3/328 ft*3. 
  • Trunk volume - 37 m*3/1300 ft*3.
  • Launch payload mass - 6,000 kg/13,228 lbs. 
  • Return payload mass - 3,000 kg/6,614 lbs.
